Women's Golf Places Trio on WGCA All-American Scholar Team

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State women's golf team placed three student-athletes on the 2016-17 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar team as the association announced its annual honors. Brianna Becker, Elisabeth Rau and Jessica Sloot were all named to the All-American Scholar team. The criteria to be named an All-American Scholar includes a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.
Senior Brianna Becker was named an All-American Scholar for the fourth straight season – named every year of her collegiate career. Becker received honors her first two years at Hawai'i before coming to Colorado State.
Senior Elisabeth Rau and sophomore Jessica Sloot were named All-American Scholars for the first time.
It is the 23rd consecutive year that Colorado State has had a student-athlete be named to the team. Head coach Annie Young now has eight student-athletes named to the WGCA All-American Scholar team in her four seasons at Colorado State.

Overall, 952 women's collegiate golfers were recognized with the prestigious All-American Scholar honor including a combined 22 from the Mountain West. Wyoming and Boise State led the way with four from each, while Fresno State, Nevada and Colorado State had three honorees.
The Women's Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the WGCA represents nearly 600 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
