Prendergast Amateur Qualifyier

Secor, Prendergast qualify for U.S. Women's Amateur

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State women's golfers Katrina Prendergast and Ellen Secor both carded low enough scores at U.S. Women's Amateur qualifiers in the beginning of July to advance to the U.S. Women's Amateur in August.

Prendergast will return to the to the U.S. Women's Amateur after posting a 69 at the CommonGround Golf Course in Aurora, Colo., on July 10. The Sparks, Nevada native advanced from the Colorado qualifier last year.

Prendergast was 2-over par through five holes, but marked up six birdies in her final 13 holes to finish minus-3 and in fourth place.

Secor carded a 72 during the U.S. Women's Amateur Qualifying round on July 3 at Cameron Park Country Club in Cameron Park, Calif.

The Portland, Oregon native was 1-over at the turn before birdieing four of the last nine holes to finish tied for fifth and make the 10-player cut at even.

The sophomore is no stranger to the national scene as she qualified for many tournaments during her prep at Sunset High School. She qualified for the 2016 US Women's Amateur Four-Ball with CSU teammate Jessica Sloot and also won the Pacific
Northwest Junior PGA title at the U.S. Junior Girls Amateur championship.

The pair will head to the San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista, Calif., to compete in the U.S. Women's Amateur August 7-13.
