Breana Runnels and Paulina Hougaard-Jensen also added seven and five kills, respectively in the sweep. Katie Oleksak was perfect on the evening, dishing out 32 assists and also chalked up six digs and two blocks. Freshman Jenna Heinemeyer made an appearance in her first collegiate match, recording four digs in the three-set affair.
The Rams came out ready to play in their first match of the busy weekend, as they got control early in set one. Colorado State maintained their lead from the first point on and finished it with three-straight to take the frame, 25-12. The rest of the match continued to favor the Rams, as they did not trail once in the remaining two sets, rolling to a 3-0 win.
Colorado State will continue the weekend at home tomorrow facing Xavier at 1:00 p.m. MT and Colorado at 7 p.m.
IN THEIR WORDS
Tom Hilbert on getting some players more experience in tonight's match…
"It is important for them because it makes them better. It's good to get them some repetitions, and it is important that we get to rest Sanja (Cizmic) a little bit as well. She has been going really hard. I though Jenna (Heinemeyer) did well. We have not seen her in a service role. All those players that came in and did well. Jessica Jackson almost led our team in hitting with .636. That's big-time."
Katie Oleksak on keeping the match flowing with all the new faces in the game for the Rams…
"It is kind of fun. We do it in practice so I'm used to setting players like Jessica (Jackson). It's definitely fun to set them in a game. She is always ready so that made it fun."
Jasmine Hanna on how she was able to exploit Albany's weaknesses…
"They had smaller blockers. When I was going up to swing, I could see that they had holes in their blocks so I would just hit it in-between their blocks."
