Results part of NCAA's annual reporting requirements for Division I athletic departments
FORT COLLINS, Colo.—The Colorado State University Department of Athletics submitted its 2016-17 financial report to the NCAA this week as part of the NCAA's annual reporting requirements for all Division 1 athletic departments. A PDF copy is available here.
Highlights of the Fiscal Year 2017 report compared to Fiscal Year 2016 include:
- Total Revenue of $44,672,319 was a 12% increase over the prior fiscal year;
- Most revenue categories increased, with the largest increases coming in NCAA revenues, and royalties and sponsorships reflecting the Athletic Department's new contracts with Learfield and Under Armour;
- *Note this report reflects the 2016 football season, the last year at Hughes Stadium, not the 2017 football season at the new on-campus stadium which will be reported in next year's FY 2018 NCAA report
- Direct university support increased by $820,000 compared to FY 16, with the increases due primarily to the increased cost of financial aid and the annual university salary increase exercise;
- Direct university support was $389,000 less than budgeted for the year (Aug. 2017 Board of Governors Report);
- *The NCAA reports covers all intercollegiate athletics institutional activity; the Board of Governor's report reflects only those accounts managed directly by the Athletics Department
- Indirect university facilities and administrative support increased by 3.95% reflecting inflationary increases in support services managed by other units on campus;
- Total Expenses of $43,965,622Â increased by 8% compared to FY 2016;
- Approximately $2 million of the $4.9 million increase in revenue and the $3.26 million increase in total expenses was due to offsetting accounting entries for the value of the Under Armour uniforms and team gear.
