QUICK NOTES

  • Colorado State returns to Mountain West action after a bye week, traveling to face San Jose State. The Rams opened the season Aug. 25 with a loss to MW foe Hawai'i at home.
  • CSU ranks 13th in FBS in passing offense, averaging 320.8 yards per game through the air, against competition that has included one Pac-12 and two SEC programs in the Rams' five games.
  • Sophomore punter Ryan Stonehouse ranks 3rd in FBS in gross punting average (50.8). Seventeen of his 27 punts have traveled 50 or more yards, and he has placed eight punts inside the 20-yard line, had four fair caught, and just three touchbacks.
  • CSU's prolific wide receiver duo of Olabisi Johnson and Preston Williams were each added to the Biletnikoff Award watch list on Sept. 25. CSU has produced two Biletnikoff Award finalists in the past four years -- Rashard Higgins (2014) and Michael Gallup (2017).
  • Johnson and Williams are both on pace to reach 1,000 receiving yards this season. CSU has never had two 1,000-yard receivers in the same season.
  • Senior kicker Wyatt Bryan made CSU history when he passed legendary running back Steve Bartalo for the program's all-time scoring record during the Rams' win over Arkansas on Sept. 8. Bryan has also recently been recognized for his efforts in the classroom, being named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy on Sept. 26. The award is given annually by the National Football Foundation, recognizing the top football scholar-athletes in the nation.
  • The Rams have had four true freshmen start this season. Cornerback Rashad Ajayi and defensive lineman Devin Phillips have started all five games. Tight end Trey McBride has started three games and linebacker Cam'ron Carter made his first career start on Sept. 22 against Illinois State.
  • Linebacker Josh Watson is on pace for one of the more prolific tackling seasons in the history of the program. He is averaging 11.0 tackles per game and has at least tied for the team lead in tackles in every game this season.
