McBride was selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the second round (55th overall) of the 2022 NFL draft.On April 3, 2025, McBride signed a four-year contract extension with the Cardinals worth $76 million with $43 million guaranteed, making him the highest paid tight end in NFL history.

Career Summary: One of the most decorated players in program history, Trey McBride became the program's first-ever unanimous All-American during the 2021 season when he also brought home the John Mackey Award for the nation's top tight end. McBride set the program's career records for tight ends in receptions, receiving yards, and 100-yard games during his 2021 campaign. A two-time All-American (2020 and 2021), McBride participated in the 2022 Senior Bowl and the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine. During his four-year career, he was also a teammate of his brother, Toby, and represented Colorado State frequently in the media. A hallmark of tenacity and the stalwart spirit of Colorado State, McBride left a lasting legacy on the program. He was selected No. 55 overall by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2022 NFL Draft, the first tight end and first Mountain West player selected.
