CSU with three in the top-30 after 36 holes

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – In an event that features 15 teams ranked in the top 100 according to Golfweek, the Colorado State men's golf team slipped two spots in the second round and sits in sixth after 36 holes of the 2018 Saint Mary's Invitational, Nov. 6. The three-day, 54-hole tournament, hosted by Saint Mary's College of California, is being played at the famed Poppy Hills Golf Club (Par 71 – 6,945 yards) in Pebble Beach, Calif.
 
Starting on the back nine, CSU made the turn in a combined 4-under but couldn't continue the momentum, dropping 10 shots in the final nine to finish the day at 6-over 290 and a 36-hole total of 6-over 574. BYU extended its lead in the second day with a 6-under 278 to post a 19-under 549 through the two rounds. The Cougars lead is 14 shots over Pepperdine at 5-under 563, with Arizona in third at 3-under 565. Southern Cal is fourth at 2-under 566 with Oregon currently fifth at 1-under 567.
 
Freshman Oscar Teiffel is the top Ram at 1-under 141 following a 1-over 7 in the second round. Junior AJ Ott is tied for 23rd at 1-over 143, with freshman Davis Bryant one shot back at 2-over 144 in a tie for 29th. Sophomore Jack Ainscough is tied for 56th at 6-over 148 with senior Jake Staiano in a tie for 73rd at 10-over 152. BYU's Peter Kuest leads at 12-under 130, holding a seven-shot lead into the final round over Oregon's Craig Ronne.
