The final two field events of the meet, the women's and men's shot put, are slated for an 11 a.m. MT start on Saturday.
Â
Two running events are slated for 7:30 p.m. MT on Friday, the men's and women's mile. The remainder of the running events will begin at 11 a.m. MT (men's and women's 5,000 meters) on Saturday and will conclude at 6 p.m. MT (men's and women's 4x400-meter relay).
Â
"I think our athletes are going to be challenged in almost every event this weekend," Colorado State head coach Brian Bedard said. "There'll be good competition and big fields. We're going to run almost everybody, and this'll be a big meet for distance and middle distance groups. It's exciting to have the whole team together this week. We should hit some fast times."
Â
Colorado State, which enters this weekend's action ranked at No. 13 on the men's side by the USTFCCCA, is set to face a field of 19 teams at the Colorado Invitational. Included among that group are regionally local foes Air Force, Colorado, Northern Colorado and Wyoming.
Â
A full recap and results will be posted to CSURams.com as soon as each are available. Notably, this meet marks the first time this season that Colorado State is set to travel a full squad. Each event group will have representation from CSU athletes this weekend with the exception of the combined events, although those athletes will compete in various events at the meet.
Â
"We're dial it back a little bit in terms of training this week," Bedard said. "We obviously want to compete well at this meet. Over the next two weeks, we'll probably see some good performances and then we'll rest them a bit before conference and go from there. We're already formulating our conference team right now. A lot of the spots are kind of locked up, but some are still available so kids are fighting for those spots right now. We'll have a pretty good idea over the next two weeks, within an athlete or two, of what our team will look like."
Â
Among the athletes competing for the Rams this weekend are All-Americans Grant Fischer and Cole Rockhold. Fischer and Rockhold, who were All-Americans in the indoor 5,000 meters and the 3,000 meters last year, respectively, will make their 2017-18 indoor debuts this weekend. Rams' Men Start Indoor Season with Program-Best No. 6 Ranking, Ranked 13th in Week Two
- The Colorado State men's track & field team entered the 2017-18 indoor season with its highest ranking in program history, as the Rams were tabbed No. 6 in the nation in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division I Men's Indoor Track & Field National Team Rankings on Wednesday, Jan. 10.
- Colorado State's preseason No. 6 ranking is its highest in either indoor or outdoor track & field. Each of those previous highs were set last year, as the Rams rose to No. 8 during the 2016-17 indoor season and as high as No. 11 during the 2017 outdoor season.
- Colorado State remains in the top 10 in week one, checking in at No. 10 in the week one poll. That is the Rams' third-highest ranking in program history, ranking behind only the aforementioned two. CSU is ranked at No. 13 this week, and has been ranked no lower than that since the start of the 2016-17 indoor season.
- The USTFCCCA uses a computer ranking system that is designed to project how teams will finish at the NCAA Championships. That system assigns points totals to individual student-athletes based upon how that athlete's marks and times stack up this season as well as how they rank based upon historical data. Those points totals for those individual student-athletes are then tallied to reach the respective team's points total for that week's rankings. Current season bests as well as previous career bests are considered for the rankings.

Eight All-Conference Performers Return for Reigning Mountain West Champions
- Among the accomplishments of the 2016-17 indoor season for Colorado State were team conference titles on each of the women's and men's sides. That marked the Rams' first ever sweep of the women's and men's titles at the Mountain West Indoor Championships, the women's second consecutive team title and the men's first since 2002.
- The Rams return eight indoor All-Mountain West performers from those teams, including individual conference champions Mostafa Hassan (shot put), Hunter Price (high jump) and Cole Rockhold (3,000 meters). Grant Fischer earned indoor All-Mountain West honors in each of the 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters.
- See below for a full listing of 2017 indoor All-Mountain West performers that return for the Rams this season.
