COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado State golfer Ellen Secor is this week's Mountain West Women's Golfer of the Week. Secor, a sophomore from Portland, Ore., finished second out of 81 athletes at the Gold Rush on Monday and Tuesday.

Secor started the Gold Rush tied for first with a one-under par 71 in the first round. She bettered her score in the second round of the day with a 70 to move to three-under par and take sole possession of first place after day one. In the final round, she carded a 74 to finish the two-day tournament with a one-under par 215 for second place. She followed Idaho's Sophie Hausmann, who is ranked 75 by World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).

Secor dominated the par three links, scoring a two-under par on those holes. She also recorded eight birdies and had the second most pars during the event with 40.

On the season, Secor has tallied four Top-10 finishes, including two in the top five. Her second place finish at the Gold Rush was her highest of her career. She is the seventh Ram to ever be recognized as a weekly or monthly winner by the Mountain West, including the fourth in the past three seasons. She joins current teammate Katrina Prendergast who was named to the award last season.

The Rams continue their spring schedule at the Rebel Beach, Feb. 26-27 at Spanish Trails CC in Las Vegas, Nev.
