Standout wide receiver selected by Dallas in third round

DALLAS – Colorado State superstar wide receiver Michael Gallup was selected in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft, going 81st overall to the Dallas Cowboys.

Gallup was a consensus All-American and a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award after racking up a school-record 100 catches for 1,413 yards and seven touchdowns last season. He had a pair of 200-yard outings, including a legendary performance at home against Nevada where he hauled in 13 passes for 263 yards and three scores.

"It was a blessing to have the opportunity to coach Michael Gallup as a Colorado State Ram, and we wish him nothing but the best as a Cowboy," said CSU head coach Mike Bobo. "He makes an impact in so many ways at the receiver position: screens, blocking, deep routes, intermediate routes, and makes unbelievable catches."

The Monroe, Ga., product earned first-team All-Mountain West honors in each of his two seasons in Fort Collins. Over 26 career games, Gallup totaled 176 catches for 2,685 yards and 21 TDs. He holds the second- and fourth-best single-season receiving yardage totals in program history (1,413 in 2017; 1,272 in 2016).

"God is so good and he gets all the glory," CSU wide receivers coach Alvis Whitted added. "It's truly amazing to see all the beautiful things that are about to happen in Michael Gallup's life. I couldn't be more proud of Michael and the way he has represented Colorado State University and our program throughout this entire process. The Dallas Cowboys are getting a steal, and he will be a tremendous asset to that organization. He is a tremendous player, with an even greater upside, and more importantly an even better human being with a great heart! There are no words to express what he means to mean and to my wife Tracy and daughter Remy. I am thankful and blessed he chose me and Coach Bobo to be a part of his journey!"

Gallup is the fifth Ram to be drafted by the Cowboys, and the first since "America's Team" took quarterback Mark Driscoll in the 13th round of the 1976 draft.

"This is one of my favorite picks of round three," an approving Mel Kiper, longtime ESPN draft analyst, said.
