Prestigious honor presented to Joe Parker at National Tourism Week Breakfast

FORT COLLINS, Colo.--The Colorado State Athletics Department was recognized by Visit Fort Collins on Wednesday as an outstanding partner in creating a positive experience for visitors to the Fort Collins community. The award was presented to Director of Athletics Joe Parker at a breakfast function held at the on-campus stadium.

"Visit Fort Collins was honored to recognize Colorado State University's Athletics Department with a prestigious Chairman's Award at our National Tourism Week Breakfast," said Cynthia Eichler, President & CEO of Visit Fort Collins. "We are very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work collectively with the department to create Rambassadors, a hospitality program to welcome 41,000 fans to 6 home football games in 2017. We were pleased to be a part of such an impactful partnership. Colorado State University Athletics is an organization where passion meets purpose and achieves at the highest level."

Parker expressed his appreciation for the recognition and was quick to praise the collective efforts of all who played a role in earning the award.

"We are proud to receive the Chairman's Award for providing extraordinary leadership and service," Parker said. "Congratulations to our entire team in Athletics, and our campus partners who are committed to serving this amazing community and its visitors."

Colorado State set attendance records in the inaugural season in the new stadium, and received significant positive impressions from across the nation for the incredible impact of the stadium and the transformation of the game day experience for Rams football.

The 2018 season kicks off Saturday, Aug. 25, when Hawai'i visits Fort Collins to take on the Rams.
