Women’s Golf season begins Sept. 17

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Head Coach Laura Cilek will begin her first season as head coach of the Colorado State women's golf program on Sept. 17, when the Rams host their annual Ptarmigan Ram Classic at Ptarmigan Country Club. The three-day tournament (Sept. 17-19) will officially open the 2017-18 season, which includes nine other tournament across Idaho, Nevada, California, Utah and Mexico.
In addition to the season-opening tournament, the fall season also includes the Coeur D'Alene Resort Collegiate Invite (Sept. 24-25), the Ron Moore Intercollegiate (Oct. 5-7) and concludes in Las Vegas with the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown (Oct. 21-23).
CSU's spring slate begins in California with the Golf Rush (Feb. 25-26) before going to Utah for the Entrada Classic (Mar. 11-12). The Rams will then travel South of the boarder to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for the Hawkeye El Tigre Invitational (Mar. 21-23). Colorado State will finish the regular season at the Silverado Showdown (April 7-9) before heading to the Mountain West Championships (April 15-17).
The Rams return five letterwinners from the 2017-18 season, including senior Katrina Prendergast and junior Ellen Secor, who both won the U.S. Women's Amateur Four Ball Championship last spring. Prendergast also holds the school record for the lowest round with a 65 and the season stroke average with a 73.56 mark. The team welcomes two newcomers – freshman Sydney Smith (Nevada) and Saga Traustadottir (Iceland).
