Harvey, Powell lead Rams at Air Force Combined Events

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Colorado State's Amelia Harvey placed third in the pentathlon at the Air Force Combined Events, while Hunter Powell is third in the heptathlon through the first four events held from the Cadet Field House on Thursday.

Harvey was the Rams' top finisher in the pentathlon, placing third of 11 with 3,418 points. Harvey's top event was the long jump, as she topped the pentathlon field by over half of a foot with a mark of 18-6 (5.64m). Harvey closed her pentathlon with a time of 2:30.96 and second-place finish in the 800 meters.

Powell has 2,931 points to rank third of 16 through the first four heptathlon events, while Bradly Wright's 2,651 points are good for fifth place. Notable results for Powell included a second-place finish in the 60 meters (7.08), as well as a third-place finish in the shot put (43-8.5/13.32m). Wright was the top Ram in the heptathlon long jump, placing third with a mark of 22-7 (6.88m).

Aria Tate finished sixth in the pentathlon (3,261), while Lexie Keller placed seventh (3,238). Among Tate's notable performances were a second-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles (8.94) and fourth places finishes in each of the high jump (4-11.75/1.52m) and long jump (17-6.75/5.35m). Keller won the pentathlon 800 meters (2:30.69) and placed third in the high jump (5-1/1.55m).

NOTES

Thursday marked the first official competition for Hunter Powell in a Colorado State uniform.
Amelia Harvey's time of 2:30.96 in the 800 meters was a new personal best.

The Colorado State track & field team continues action from USAF Academy, Colo., at the Cadet Field House on Friday. Day two of competition at Air Force includes the second half of the Air Force Combined Events and the first half of the Air Force Invitational. Heptathlon competition begins at 9 a.m. MT, while running and field events each begin at 1 p.m. MT.
