USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Performances in the weight throw, heptathlon and pole vault highlighted action for Colorado State as the Rams competed at the Air Force Invitational and Air Force Combined Events on Friday from the Cadet Field House.

Senior Kelcey Bedard registered a personal best in the women's weight throw for the second-straight week, winning Friday night's competition with a mark of 68-2.25 (20.78m). Bedard's mark ranks third on CSU's all-time indoor list, and is ranked 17th in the NCAA this indoor season as of Friday night.

Senior Hunter Powell finished off his first heptathlon at CSU with a score of 5,209. Powell's score was the best in Friday's 16-athlete field by nearly 600 points, and ranks sixth on CSU's all-time indoor list. Among his notable performances in the final heptathlon events were third-place finishes in the pole vault (15-5/4.70m) and in the 1,000 meters (2:58.19). Bradly Wright also improved upon his personal best in the heptathlon, recording 4,586 points for the No. 14 score on CSU's all-time indoor list.

Junior Josie Spitz won the women's pole vault in a personal-best performance on Friday, clearing 12-9.5 (3.90m) for the win. Spitz's mark, which ranks third on CSU's all-time indoor list, was the highest among Friday's field by nearly one foot.

On the track, freshman Lauren Gale topped the women's 400 meters preliminaries field with a time of 55.45, while sophomore Jessica Ozoude clocked a time of 24.36 to take first place in the women's 200 meters preliminaries. Ozoude also placed second in the women's 60 meters preliminaries with a time of 7.50, while freshman Briyana Bunson registered a personal-best 60 time of 7.65. Bunson moves up to 12th on CSU's all-time indoor list with her performance. Rounding out notable personal-best performances on the track was Jose Lopez's 8.18 in the men's 60-meter hurdles, which ranks 13th among CSU's all-time top performers.

IN THEIR WORDS
Colorado State head coach Brian Bedard
On Kelcey Bedard's performance:
"She's been training well and she's starting to figure out the timing of her finish better. She's been making some technical improvements, and her comfort level has been getting better. Tonight, the rest of the meet was basically over while the women's weight throw was going on, and I think having her teammates behind her cheering for her while she threw really inspired her to make a great throw. She really responded to it, and I'm not sure she throws it that far tonight without the team behind her, to be honest."

NOTES
  • While freshman Lauren Gale did not top her personal best in the women's 400 meters, only three other athletes in program history have run a faster indoor time than her time of 55.45 on Friday.
  • Only four athletes in program history have a faster indoor time in the women's 200 meters than sophomore Jessica Ozoude's 24.36 on Friday. Only six Rams have outperformed her 7.50 in the women's 60 meters.
