A New Leader But Familiar Face
• While he may be in his first season in charge of the program, head coach Niko Medved was already a familiar face around Fort Collins and to Rams' fans. Medved previously was on the coaching staff from 2007-13 under two different coaches. He was a key part of recruiting players that helped the Rams to four consecutive postseason appearances, the last two in the NCAA Tournament that included a win over Missouri in 2013.

Postseason Experience
• Head coach Niko Medved has had extensive success wherever he has coached, both as a head and an assistant.
• As an assistant coach, he helped turn around the CSU program to improving its win totals from his first year in each successive year, ending in four straight postseason appearances.
• He continued that trend at Furman and Drake, improving both programs' win totals from the previous year in each of his five seasons as a head coach, finishing his last three years in postseason play.

Last Time Out...
• Colorado State grabbed the lead early in the game from visiting Fresno State and withstood a late rally from the second-place team in the Mountain West to earn a 74-65 victory Saturday afternoon in Moby Arena.  With the win, the Rams improved to 8-12 on the season and 3-4 in MW play, while the Bulldogs fell to 14-5 and 5-2 in league action.
• Fresno State opened the contest on a 6-0 run on back-to-back three pointers, but the Rams responded with a 12-0 run of their own to take a lead they would never relinquish.  Freshman guard Kendle Moore and redshirt-senior J.D. Paige got things going early by connecting on four of their next six shots from beyond the arc, combining for 20 of the Rams' first 21 points.  CSU led by as many as seven in the opening period but an 11-7 Bulldog run cut the CSU lead down to three at the break, 33-30.
• Stellar defense and team play set the tone in the second half, where the Rams held the Bulldogs scoreless through the first five minutes of the second stanza, allowing the CSU to gain control of the game with a 46-30 lead.  Redshirt-Junior Nico Carvacho kept the momentum in the Rams favor slamming home a fast break opportunity to make it 60-45 with 8:40 left. The Bulldogs wouldn't go away, battling back with a 15-5 surge that made it 65-60 CSU with just under three minutes to play. However, the Rams salted it away with solid foul shooting in the final two minutes, combining to make their last seven attempts from the charity stripe.
• On the game, CSU outshot Fresno State by almost 10 percent, as the Rams were 45.1 percent (23-of-51) from the floor, including 10-of-20 from the three-point arc, while the Bulldogs were just 35.9 percent (23-of-64) from the floor and just 8-of-30 from beyond the three-point line. Colorado State also held the slight advantage in the battle of the boards, outrebounding the Bulldogs 40-39.

Last Year's Meetings
• Colorado State was unable to find an offensive rhythm or slow down Boise State's as the Rams dropped the game to the visiting Broncos 87-54, Feb. 21, 2018.  The loss put the Rams at 11-18 overall on the season and 4-12 in league play, while the Broncos improved to 22-6 including a 12-4 record in league play this season.
• Thanks in part to five made free throws by junior guard Prentiss Nixon, Colorado State jumped out to a quick 10-4 lead with 17:14 to go in the first half.  The six-point lead would be the largest for the Rams in the game, as the Broncos battled back with a 17-2 run giving them a 21-12 lead with over 12 minutes left before halftime, a margin they would never relinquish.  Boise State extended the lead behind 55.6 percent shooting from the floor to extend the lead to 50-29 at the break. The difference grew to as many as 42 in the second half, as CSU was held with just one basket in an 11-minute span.

The Broncos dominated the glass, 51-31 and outscored the Rams 25-15 off turnovers.
• The Rams had two players score in the double digits as junior forward Deion James and redshirt-junior guard J.D. Paige netted 12 points each.  Boise State had three players reach double digit points, led by guard Chandler Hutchinson's 27, including 19 in the first half.

• Boise State took the opening tip and scored the first five points of the game to take a lead it would never relinquish. The Rams got it down to a one-point margin but the lead grew to as many as 13 in the opening period before host Broncos went to the locker room with a 43-33 halftime lead.  CSU got it down to a five-point margin at 49-44 with 15:31 to play in the game and held close until a 6-0 spurt blew it back to a 12-point lead that would shrink to no fewer than nine the rest of the contest.
