Bryant Leads As Rams Run Out To Lead After First Round of Saint Mary's Invitational

No. 20 CSU posts 17-under and leads No. 6 BYU by nine shots
PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Colorado State continued its strong fall play in the opening round of the 2019 Saint Mary's Invitational, as the Rams have opened up a 9-shot lead through 18 holes on Monday. The three-round, 54-hole tournament is being played at Poppy Hills Golf Club (Par 71 – 7,002 yards) in Pebble Beach, Calif.
The No. 20 Rams, according to Golfstat, used four under-par rounds to post a 17-under 267 and lead No. 6 BYU by nine shots as the Cougars shot an 8-under 278. No. 14 Arizona is in third, trailing by 11 shots with No. 17 Oregon State and New Mexico rounding out the top five teams.

What a round by the boys today! I kept seeing so many great shots out there. We have put ourselves in a good spot for the rest of the tournament.

- The Rams' 267 ties for the sixth lowest 18-hole total in program history, while the 17-under par score also ties for sixth best.
- Sophomore Davis Bryant shot a career-low 7-under 64 (by two shots), with the team season-best 64 tying for the sixth lowest individual player round in school history. His 7-under ties for 13th lowest under-par score.
- Sophomore Oscar Teiffel carded a 6-under 65, also a career-low total. The six-under mark also tied a collegiate personal best.
- Junior Parathakorn Suyasri posted his sixth round of par or better with his 3-under 68, while fellow junior Jack Ainscough carded his third round of par or better in 11 rounds this season with a 1-under 70.
