FORT COLLINS, Colo. β The Colorado State track & field team will compete in its second meet of the 2019-20 indoor season Saturday before holiday break at the UCCS Holiday Invite inside Mountain Lion Fieldhouse.
Β
The Rams send 55 student-athletes β 33 men and 22 women β to compete at the meet, hosted annually by the University of Colorado β Colorado Springs. Both groups will participate in the high jump, long jump, triple jump, shot put, weight throw, 60-meter hurdles, and 60-meter race. The women have a group of pole vaulters, while the men have two teams running in the 4x400-meter relay.
Β
"We aren't running any twos (200m) or fours (400m), but it gives the student-athletes another chance at competing before the break" Colorado State head coach Brian Bedard said. "Some of the folks that didn't do so well at the first meet get a chance to get another opportunity. We have several unattached athletes that get a chance to compete. We go into it with the same mindset of improving across the board."
Β
Last weekend, the Rams started off their 2019-20 indoor season in successful fashion across three different meets that saw 10 individual titles. At the Mines Alumni Classic, Isa Bynum swept the long jump and triple jump, while Celyn Stermer won the pole vault. Most of the action occurred down at the Air Force Open with six titles; Tom Willems in the 500 meters, Ashton Hallsted (UNA) in the weight throw, Andrew Doctor in the 60-meter hurdles, Adam Dawson in the weight throw, Lauren Gale (UNA) in the 300 meters, and Maria Muzzio in the shot put. Across the country, Eric Hamer put the final touches on the opening weekend with a school record in the 5,000 meters at the Boston Season Opener.
