FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State track & field team will begin the 2019-20 indoor season this week with three different groups across three locations, starting with the Mines Alumni Classic & Multi Thursday.

The Rams send 18 student-athletes to compete at the Mines Alumni Classic & Multi, hosted annually by the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo., over a two-day span. The events they will participate in are the women's pentathlon, men's heptathlon, long jump, pole vault, triple jump and high jump.

The bulk of the Rams' squad, to a tone of 33 student-athletes, will head farther south to the Air Force Holiday Open that commences Friday in Colorado Springs at the Cadet Field House. There, Colorado State will be a part of the 60 meters, 60-meter hurdles, 300 meters, 500 meters, and throwing events.

Lastly, senior Eric Hamer will travel to Boston alongside assistant distance coach Andrew Epperson to the Boston University Season Opener. Hamer will participate in the 5,000-meter race in a field of 23 runners. The track bodes well for national meet qualifying times as three runners punched their ticket to nationals last year at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.

"It is that time of the year that we get to go out and see about our identity," Colorado State head coach Brian Bedard said. "Yes, we are coming off a great year in which we swept all four conference titles, but we graduated a large class from it. Thus, this is the time we will see who steps up and takes on some leadership that was lost. I'm sure it'll reaffirm for some of the student-athletes that they're on the right path, and for some it may kick them into gear that they need to pick up their preparation. Either way it gives us [coaches] and the athletes a chance to grade their progress and what we need to do going forward. Our team is chopping at the bit to compete beyond our walls, so we are excited to see what we are all about."
