USAF, Colo. – Day two of Colorado State's indoor track and field season continued Friday with seven individual titles between the Mines Alumni Classic & Multi in Golden and the Air Force Holiday Open.
The Mines Alumni Classic & Multi in Golden occurred earlier in the day and was the site of the first individual title. For the second day in a row, Isa Bynum headed back to Fort Collins with a title in hand. This time, the junior won the triple jump with a distance of 48'6.75'' – good for a share of 14th in CSU's all-time marks and right behind his own 13th-place mark. Freshman Allam Bushara finished right behind Bynum with a time that registered at 18th in school history.
In the women's high jump, junior Kate McCain and freshman Audrey Simmons finished second and third, respectively, while Christian Carnahan on the men's side tied for third.
Down at the Air Force Holiday Open, six events concluded with a Ram at the top of the scoreboard. Additionally, the action saw 19 new personal-best times and 10 CSU debuts.
One of those debuts, freshman Tom Willems won the 500 meters at 1:04.36. Sophomore Andrew Doctor ran an 8.09 to edge the field in the 60-meter hurdles and put himself tied at 12th in CSU history with the time. The last men's first-place finish came in the weight throw as Adam Dawson threw it 58'3.25'' and trailing in second was Beau Gordon at 57'6.25''.
The women's side swept the shot put with Maria Muzzio (51'5.75''), Tarynn Sieg (49'3.75''), and Morgan Stewart (43'1.75'') finishing 1-2-3. For Muzzio, it registered as a new personal best, while Stewart's was a CSU debut.
In the women's 300m, Lauren Gale, albeit unattached, cruised to a first-place finish with a time of 38.82. Fellow Rams Jasmine Chesson (41.49) and Michelle Gould (41.62) crossed third and fourth, respectively, with the latter earning a new PR.
Lastly, Ashton Hallsted, although unattached, recorded a weight throw of 66'6.5'' to take first and would register as fifth-best in CSU history. Tarynn Sieg took second at 60'2.75'' – good for 14th-best in CSU history.
The last Rams in action is a single student-athlete, Eric Hamer, on Saturday participating in the 5,000-meter race at the Boston University Season Opener and accompanied by assistant distance coach Andrew Epperson.
"This 5k will be a great opportunity for Eric to showcase his fitness amongst the best runners in the country," Epperson said. "This is the best meet for distance races, this time of year, and a historically fast track. Eric's training has been top notch and I am excited for him to toe-the-line in Boston."
