CSU unable to overcome several tough holes in their Saturday effort

PALM DESERT, Calif. – Colorado State couldn't avoid some trouble and slipped three spots to a tie for fourth after 36 holes of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate, Feb. 23. The three-day, 54-hole tournament, hosted by the University of Wyoming, is being played at Classic Club (Par 72 – 7,305 yards) in Palm Desert, Calif.

Playing in the first wave of the day off No. 1 with the top four teams, the No. 47 Rams couldn't string together the birdies to counteract some trouble and posted a 10-over 288 for the day and a two-round total of 12-over 588 in a tie with No. 39 Kansas. No. 18 Texas Tech is the second round leader after a 6-under 282 put the Red Raiders at 4-under 572, two shots ahead of Boise State at 2-under 574 after the Broncos posted the low round of the day at 7-under 281. TCU is third at 1-under 575 following a 4-under 284 as just four teams shot under-par rounds on Saturday.

The Rams are paced by sophomore Parathakorn Suyasri, who is tied for 11th at 1-over 145 after a 4-over 76 in the second round. Senior Jake Staiano is tied for 22nd at 3-over 147, with freshman Oscar Teiffel improving three shots from his first round with a team-best 1-over 73 on the day and a two-round score of 5-over 149 in a tie for 35th. Junior AJ Ott is tied for 41st at 6-over 150, with freshman Davis Bryant the final team member, currently tied for 62nd at 8-over 152.
