Rams pad eight new entries in distance events on program’s all-time outdoor lists

HAYWARD, Calif./STANFORD, Calif. – Colorado State posted eight new entries to its all-time outdoor lists in distance events with performances at the Stanford Invitational and Mike Fanelli Track Classic.

The Stanford Invitational is held at Cobb Track & Angell Field in Stanford, Calif., while the Mike Fanelli Track Classic is hosted by San Francisco State at Chabot College in Hayward, Calif. Of those eight top-20 marks registered by the Rams in California, three of them rank within the program's all-time top 10 in their respective events.

Read more below for details on the Rams' performances at each meet.

Stanford Invitational (Cobb Track & Angell Field)
First up for the Rams at Stanford was junior Ali Kallner, who took fourth place in the second section of the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase. Kallner's time was 10:14.13, an 18-second personal best and the No. 7 time on CSU's all-time outdoor list.

Senior Cole Rockhold finished in the top 10 in the invitational section of the men's 5,000 meters, clocking a time of 13:53.66. Each of the top 15 finishers in that race finished with a better time than any athlete in the NCAA had registered to this point in the season.

A trio of Colorado State athletes competed in the 10,000 meters, including a pair of Rams on the women's side. Senior Bailey Ness clocked a time of 34:14.01, the No. 6 time on CSU's all-time outdoor list, while senior Darby Gilfillan stopped the clock in 35:28.18. On the men's side, senior Carson Hume finished the 10,000 in 29:23.93, which ranks eighth all-time at CSU.

Mike Fanelli Track Classic (Chabot College – Hayward, Calif.)
Junior Forrest Barton was the first Ram to notch a personal best in Hayward, Calif., as he clocked a time of 9:03.05 to take second place in Thursday night's third section of the 3,000-meter steeplechase. He improved upon his previous best by nearly 17 seconds, and moved up to 12th on CSU's all-time outdoor list with his performance.

Three Rams ran the 10,000 meters at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic. Freshman Maximilliano Martinez and junior Satchel Caldwell placed fourth and ninth, respectively, in the second section of the men's race. Martinez's time was 29:37.31 (12th on CSU's all-time outdoor list), while Caldwell finished in 29:53.37 (16th all-time at CSU). On the women's side, freshman Lily Tomasula-Martin placed fifth in the invitational section with a time of 35:20.08. That time is 14th on CSU's all-time outdoor list.

Rounding out performances for the Rams were that of senior Trent Powell and sophomore Jacob Brueckman, who each placed in the top six in section three of the men's 5,000 meters. Powell clocked a time of 14:19.54, while Brueckman finished in 14:24.92. Powell's time ranks 20th on CSU's all-time outdoor list.

NOTES
  • Four active Rams now occupy a spot on CSU's all-time outdoor list in the men's 10,000 meters. In addition to the three that joined the list in California this week, Eric Hamer is also 12th all-time for CSU in the event.
  • While Cole Rockhold's time was shy of a personal best in the men's 5,000 meters, only five other athletes in program history have run the event with a faster time than Rockhold's 13:53.66 from Friday.
