BOULDER, Colo. – The Colorado State track & field team's all-time program record in the women's 4x100 relay was broken by Marybeth Sant, Lauren Gale, Destinee Rocker and Jessica Ozoude on Saturday at the Colorado Invitational at Potts Field.
Sant, Gale, Rocker and Ozoude combined to clock a 4x100 time of 44.66 to win the event on Saturday. Their performance took down the previous record of 44.79 run by former Rams Emily Romo, Aby Simpson, Leah Fair and Lorenda Holston at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships in 2017.
Highlighting action in field events was a personal-best performance and first-place finish for Kelcey Bedard in the women's discus. The senior's mark was 180-10 (55.13m), which ranks seventh on CSU's all-time outdoor list. Bedard also led the Rams in the women's hammer throw, topping the Colorado Invitational field with a mark of 196-7 (59.92m). Senior Linnea Jonsson registered a mark of 189-8 (57.82m) in the women's hammer to give the Rams a one-two finish in the event. Junior Bailey King threw the implement 190-8 (58.12m), giving the Rams a sweep of the men's and women's hammer.

Junior Aria Tate was third with a time of 14.16, which ranks 17th on CSU's all-time outdoor list. In men's hurdles action, Jose Lopez stopped the clock in 14.63 to place third overall in the 110-meter hurdles and as the top collegian. Highlighting action in the sprints was a sweep of the top three spots in the women's 200 meters. Ozoude won with a time of 23.80, while Gale placed second (24.48, 13th-best on CSU's all-time outdoor list) and sophomore Jasmine Chesson placed third (24.82).
Juniors Josie Spitz and Aliya Simpson both cleared 12-6 (3.81m) in the women's pole vault, each among a three-way tie for the top mark in the field. Spitz took the top spot in the event based upon the results of a jump-off. The top performer for the Rams in the horizontal jumps was junior Amelia Harvey, who leapt 18-6.5 (5.65m) to win the women's long jump by nearly half of a foot.
Rounding out top performances in women's throws was that of redshirt-freshman Tarynn Sieg, who won the shot put with a mark of 50-9.5 (15.48m). Junior Maria Muzzio was second in the event with a throw of 48-11 (14.91m). CSU's men's discus throwers took four of the top five spots at the Colorado Invitational, headlined by the performance of King (167-0/50.90m).
Among the remaining notables on the track was a second-place finish and time of 40.83 by E'Lias Sutton, Caleb Hardy, Nathan Gish and Will Domier in the men's 4x100 relay. Other performances of note included a third-place finishes in the men's long jump by sophomore Isa Bynum (23-5.25/7.14m) and in the men's shot put by junior Bailey King (53-7.5/16.34m).
IN THEIR WORDS
Colorado State head coach Brian Bedard
On the women's 4x100 relay team:
"That was a nice way to start the meet. That's a talented group that we have there, and considering that there were a few handoffs that weren't very clean, I think we'll see that group run a lot faster. It's good to see them all together and considering their talent, it wasn't a surprise, either."
On Kelcey Bedard's performance:
"She had a good series of throws and I thought in the prelims she might throw a lifetime best. For her to hit that kind of effort on her last throw was huge. What I really liked about today is how she stayed very coachable, and showed a lot of composure to make changes on the fly and trust what I had to say. It's not easy to do in the moment, and it turned out really well. She's ahead of the 'old man' now (Kelcey's mark is four feet better than Brian's collegiate PR)...I'm sure she's enjoying that."
