Nine teams have four-year scores at 990 or above

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State finished the 2017-18 academic year with eight of 14 programs recording perfect Academic Progress Rate scores, according to figures released by the NCAA on Wednesday.

Last week, CSU's men's golf and women's swimming and diving programs were honored by the NCAA as programs in the top 10 percent of their sport by earning perfect APR scores for a four-year period. For the 2017-18 season, those two teams were joined by men's cross country, women's basketball, women's golf, women's soccer, women's tennis and volleyball with perfect scores of 1,000.

"We are proud of the APR numbers generated by our students during this academic cycle," CSU athletic director Joe Parker said. "The APR was designed to offer a timely indicator of each team's academic wellbeing. Colorado State is a place that strives for excellence in academics and athletics. When multiple programs achieve perfect scores, it illustrates the attention and focus placed on academic success. It truly underscores the efforts of our students, coaches and staff who keep classroom performance at the forefront of everything we do."

APR is calculated by teams receiving one point for each student-athlete receiving financial aid who remains academically eligible and a point for each who remains enrolled at school. Team points are divided by the total possible points and then multiplied by 1,000 to equal the rate. The rolling four-year APR is used to determine accountability, and teams falling below the 930 threshold are not allowed to compete in NCAA championship events.

All of Colorado State's programs are in strong standing under the four-year marker. Women's soccer (994) led a group of eight programs below 1,000 but above 990  – men's and women's track, women's basketball, women's cross country, women's golf all sat at 991, with volleyball at 990. Men's cross country (988), women's tennis (985), softball (985), football (967) and men's basketball (946) followed.

The 2017-18 scores for the remaining programs were men's track (990), women's tennis (979), women's cross country (978), softball (972), football (946) and men's basketball (920).
