Rams earn 72 Scholar-Athlete recognitions

Seven of them carry 4.0 GPAs

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State had 72 athletes named as 2018-19 Scholar-Athletes by the Mountain West on Tuesday, part of a record 867 for the Mountain West for the competition calendar.
 
The Scholar-Athlete Award – one of the highest academic notations by the conference – requires student-athletes to complete at least two terms at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better and participated in varsity competition.
 
Every sport at Colorado State had at least one person earn Scholar-Athlete honors for the year, led by 14 from women's track & field. Swimming and diving had 11 and volleyball nine. The three men's cross country athletes and five women's cross country athletes were also named on the list of track recipients.
 
Of the Scholar-Athletes, seven are carrying perfect 4.0 GPAs – Jordan Acosta and Jessica Jarecki (softball), Jennae Frederick (swimming), Maddie Wilson (women's track & field), and Sasha Colombo, Jacqi Van Liefde and Amanda Young (volleyball).
