- Mountain West Openers: Colorado State is now 7-14 in MW openers, 1-4 under coach Mike Bobo and 1-6 when opening on the road. No CSU coach has a winning record when it comes to starting MW play. Steve Fairchild was 2-2, Sonny Lubick 4-5 and Jim McElwain was 0-3.
- Blocked: Troy Golden recorded the first blocked punt for the Rams since Jakob Buys did it against Nevada in 2014. Golden broke through the wall in the first quarter, setting up CSU's first touchdown.
- Turnovers: Colorado State entered the game with only two turnovers created on the season. In the first half, the Rams forced a fumble, blocked a punt and notched an interception. They added two more in the second half on an interception and a fumble recovery.
PLAYER NOTES
RB Jaylen Thomas
- - Scored his first career touchdown on a 2-yard run in the first quarter.
- - Recorded the first interception of the season for the Rams in the second quarter
- - Returned it 44 yards for a touchdown, the first pick-six since Rashad Ajayi returned one 55 yard against San Jose State on Oct. 6, 2018.
- - Forced a fumble in the first quarter, his first of the year.
- - Recorded his first sack of the season in the second quarter, taking down Jordan Love for a 4-yard loss.
- - Finished with a career best 12 tackles, eight of them solo. He's the first CSU defensive lineman with eight solo stops since at least 2000, and the first Ram defensive lineman with double-digit tackles in a game since Lanston Tanyi had 13 against Hawaii in 2012.
- - Notched the first interception of his career in the third quarter of the game.
