CSU uses a strong second half on both ends of the floor for its third season series sweep of the year
PHOENIX, Ariz.  – Colorado State utilized a second half surge and pulled away from San Jose State for an 88-61 victory Saturday afternoon in Phoenix. With the win, the Rams improved to 10-2 and 7-1 in Mountain West play, while the Spartans fell to 2-10 and 0-8 in the league.
Â
The two teams battled early on and the game was within six most of the opening minutes as the Rams led after the opening minute. Then, CSU stepped up its defense and held SJSU without a FB for more than 6 minutes – CSU went on a 10-3 run to extend the lead to 36-24 with just under two to go in the first 20 minutes. The Rams continued to push until the end of the half, building a 42-28 lead at the intermission.
Â
In the second 20, SJSU continued to try to fight back, but CSU had an answer every time to keep the Spartans from making a run to close the gap to single digits. San Jose State got it down to 51-40 with 16:14 to play, but the Rams went on a quick 7-0 run over 41 seconds to extend the lead to 18 and never look back. CSU led by as many as 33 in the final minutes to earn the victory.
Â
Colorado State finished the game at 51.5 percent (35-of-68) from the floor and 35.3 percent (12-of-34) on threes. San Jose State was held to 38.1 percent (24-of-63) from the field and just 27.3 percent (6-of-22) behind the line. The teams combined for just 18 turnovers in the contest.

Freshman center James Moors was the other Ram in double figures with a season-high 14 points along with six board.
