Rams Face Tough Travel Week

Colorado State will head on the road for a Thursday night match at San Diego State before having to return home and host UNLV on Saturday afternoon.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State continues Mountain West play this week, but will have a tough week with travel. The Rams will start the week at San Diego State for a late 8 p.m., MT match before coming back home and hosting defending Mountain West Champion UNLV on Saturday at 1 p.m., MT.
 
Rams at a Glance
» Colorado State continued its Mountain West season at home last week, picking up a pair of sweeps against New Mexico and Air Force to remain perfect at home against league foes.
» The Rams enter the half-way point of the Mountain West schedule at 7-1 in the conference and sits alone at the top of the standings after winning their last four matches and 7-3 in the last 10.
» CSU has cruised passed six of their eight conference opponents, including recording a sweep in each of the five home conference matches and hold a 21-4 set mark in those matches
» The Rams have played three five-set matches this season, with each coming down to the final two points.
» Colorado State has gathered two Mountain West weekly awards so far this season -- sophomore outside Kennedy Stanford earned Offensive Player of the Week and senior libero Alexa Roumeliotis earned Defensive Player of the Week.
» In the Rams 17 matches played this season, 19 sets have been decided by two points – with 10 falling in favor of CSU. In Mountain West action, the Rams are 4-1 in those scenarios.
 
Scouting San Diego State
» San Diego State started the season with a 3-9 non-conference slate, dropping matches to then-No. 21 Pepperdine, then-No. 16 UNLC and then-No.25 San Diego.
» The Aztecs are 6-14 overall and 3-5 in the Mountain West, sitting in ninth in the standings.
» SDSU split last week's matches on the road with a sweep at Boise State before dropping Saturday's match at Utah State - the Aggies are riding a three-match streak and are in second in the MW standings.
» San Diego State holds a 196 RPI this week, with a 0-6 mark against Top-100 opponents.
» The Aztecs looks to be a high-powered offensive team, sitting a No. 3 for assists (12.18) and kills (13.06) in the overall Mountain West stats.
» Victoria O'Sullivan was named the Offensive Player of the Week in the Mountain West - her first weekly award - as she is posted a 5.33 kill average last week in the Aztecs split matches at Boise State and Utah State.
 
Scouting UNLV
» UNLV comes into the week with a 14-5 overall mark and 5-3 in the Mountain West. The Rebels will face Wyoming on Thursday before heading to Fort Collins.
» The Rebels will look to snap a two-match skid on Thursday when playing the Cowgirls as UNLV dropped a pair of five-set road matches last week against Utah State and Boise State.
» UNLV had a successful non-conference slate, posting a 9-2 mark with a win over then-No. 25 Washington State and losses to then-No. 8 Purdue and then-No. 15 BYU.
» With the Rebels difficult preseason, they sit the highest in the Mountain West in RPI at No. 67 with a 2-2 mark against teams in the Top 100.
» UNLV entered the Mountain West schedule with seven-consecutive wins before getting swept the opener against San Jose State.
» The Rebels were tabbed to win the Mountain West after claiming the Mountain West regular season a season ago for the first time in program history, recording a 12-0 record in a conference-only schedule
» The Rebels reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2016 and picked up a first-round win against Illinois State for their 13th-straight victory of the season, before getting swept by No. 2 Kentucky.
 
Series History
» Colorado State and San Diego State will meet for the 62nd time on Thursday night.
» The Rams hold a 45-17 advantage in the series that dates backs to 1980, including a 22-10 mark while away from Moby Arena.
