Rams Finish Road Swing with Win

Colorado State finished its two-match road trip with a victory at San Jose State Saturday.
SAN JOSE, Calif. – Colorado State picked up another Mountain West Conference win, as the Rams took down San Jose State 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Both teams traded runs to start the match, but San Jose State went on a 5-0 run to lead 13-9. From there, the Rams' offense kicked it into drive and made large runs down the stretch. CSU trailed at 15-12 before grabbing the first set, 25-19. The first set had a match-high nine tie scores and five lead changes.
San Jose State jumped out to a 4-1 lead early and never looked back cruising to a 25-18 win.
After splitting the first two, Colorado State took the lead early and kept its distance from the Spartans through the heart of the frame. San Jose State looked to make a late move, putting together a five-point run to get within one at 18-17 before tying the set at 20-20. The Rams had set point at 24-23 before eventually securing the match lead with a 26-24.
In the final set, both teams traded points to start but Colorado State took a 14-10 advantage. The Spartans got within two at 17-15 before the Rams pushed their lead to grab the set and match, 25-20.
Colorado State was led by Jacqi Van Liefde who floored 15 kills and was errorless in 31 attempts with a .484 hitting mark. Annie Sullivan added double figures with 13 kills on a .333 clip. Ciera Pritchard dished out 37 assists and added 10 digs for her fifth double-double of the season. Alexa Roumeliotis also was solid from the back row, tallying 11 digs. The Rams' defense put up seven blocks, led by Sullivan and Sasha Colombo each with three.
Colorado State will return to Moby Arena and host New Mexico and Air Force.
