Rams Hit Road for Pair of Matches

Team faces Drake, South Dakota in Des Moines, Iowa
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State hits the road this season for the first time, picking up a pair of non-conference matches in Des Moines, Iowa.
Â
The women's tennis team starts with Drake on Friday (12 p.m. MT), then will face South Dakota on Saturday (9 a.m. MT). A livestream is available for Friday's match.
Â
The Rams are coming off a 7-0 sweep of Metro State in their season opener on Feb. 6, winning the two doubles matches and four of the six singles spots in straight sets. Drake is 1-3 on the year, the lone win coming against South Dakota, which is 1-2.
Â
"I'm looking forward to the chance to get out there and compete," coach Jarod Camerota said. "We got a taste of it, and everyone liked it. This week, we get two chances on the road. It should be fun."
Â
The home match with the Roadrunners gave the Rams a chance to work off the rust of an 11-month layoff between collegiate matches. Camerota found a lot to be encouraged by, while also walking away with a list of items to work on in practice.
Â
He liked the way the newcomers to the roster blended in with the returning members of the team, and now he's anticipating better play after a week of work.
Â
"It was good to see that we bring a lot of energy as a team," he said. "We stayed loose out on the court, and that was something really good that we did. What I want to see in doubles is just fine tuning our movement and positioning, and in singles, just really getting a better rhythm. Singles takes longer to get into. You have to play a bunch of matches to get into a singles groove."
