Ram Obtain Six Top-10 All-Time Marks Including Two School Records Saturday

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Save the best for last was Allam Bushara's motto Saturday at the Championship at the Peak event as he not only captured the Colorado State indoor triple jump record on his last attempt, but he also may have punched himself a ticket to the NCAA Championships.

Bushara, who attained the No. 2 mark earlier this month, wanted that top spot and got it when he registered a 52'1.25'', which also checked in as the season's 16th-best mark in the NCAA. The top-16 get the invite to the NCAA Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. starting March 11th. Bushara won the event making him 2-for-2 in triple jump events in the indoor season.

He was the only Ram to obtain a CSU record Saturday in the Cadet Field House, but not the only CSU record performance. Lauren Gale already had the 400-meter record, but she improved it by shaving .07 seconds off to distance herself in first with a time of 52.76. The final featured all Pac-12 runners and Gale who was edged by .01 in second place by Jan'Taijah Ford of USC.

In the men's 60-meter hurdles, Liam Mather recorded a 7.92 – good for fourth on CSU's all-time list. This weekend, he cut .17 seconds off his previous PR that was tied 14th on that same list. Mather finished fifth in the race that featured three advancing to the NCAAs.

An equally impressive individual improvement occurred for Kelley Stephens and DeVon Washington in the 200 and 400, respectively. Stephens moved up seven spots to No. 9 on CSU's all-time 200 list after finishing second with a time of 21.64. Washington jumped up nine positions to land sixth all-time for the 400 with a third-place finish and time of 47.79, improving by .69 seconds.

On the women's side, true freshman Janyah Jasper continued to run like not a freshman. She placed second in the 200 at 24.38 behind USC's Lanae-Tava Thomas. The time for Jasper moved her up to the seventh spot in CSU history after she entered the meet not even on the list.

Team-wise, the women finished second with a score of 54.5 points. Witchita State won the meet with 75 points, while UNLV was in the Rams' rear view at 54. On the men's side, CSU placed sixth and host Air Force took the team title.

As of right now, Bushara would join Eric Hamer, who is seventh in the 5,000-meter indoor performance list, at the NCAA Championships. The field will be set at the conclusion of all conference meets.

Coach's Corner
Head Coach Brian Bedard
On the meet…
"I thought we had some really good individual performances throughout the meet. Lauren Gale had a special effort. Allam obviously as well in the triple jump with the school record on his last jump. Liam had a big day in the hurdles. The sprints group was the highlight of the meet with a lot of lifetime bests and a good effort overall. We executed race plans well and were extremely aggressive, which is what we are looking for. I am feeling proud about the Rams' performance."

On the competition in the finals…
"It was nice to go up against a lot of Pac-12 schools, but then also Wichita State has a very good program. The meet in general had a good vibe. The coaches were thankful to be here. The athletes thankful to be able to compete. The host Air Force Academy along with head coach Ralph Lindeman did a fantastic job pulling this thing together, so I appreciate everything they did to make it happen."
