Numerous Ram Debuts and Top Marks for Colorado State at CSU Pueblo Invite

PUEBLO, Colo. – Proving that they were not only anxious for the outdoor season, but ready, the Colorado State track and field teams accumulated 16 top-20 all-time school marks in the two-day CSU Pueblo Invite.

Since last season's outdoor did not occur, more Rams than usual made their outdoor season debut. Upwards of 35 student-athletes put on the green and gold jersey for the first time in sunlight on Friday and Saturday.

In the throwing events, the CSU women dominated the shot put and discus, going 1-2-3 in both, while even finishing fourth and fifth in the latter as well. New in the bunch was Gabi McDonald who threw the seventh-best shot put in CSU history for second place behind Tarynn Sieg. McDonald led the Rams in the discus with the 18th-best throw in school history at 166'5''. On Friday, Haley Showalter – one of those long-awaited Ram debuters – won the hammer throw with the 12th-best throw all-time. It did not register past her personal record back at Wisconsin though, leaving more potential this season.

On the men's side, Jackson Morris won the javelin and finished behind Adam Dawson in today's discus. In his outdoor debut, Mariano Kis led the Rams in the shot put with a fourth-place finish.

All three women pole vaulters logged top-20 marks with Tameryn Coryell and Celyn Stermer tying each other for the third-best all-time CSU mark of 12'11''. Lauren Jarossy placed right after them in fifth with a height of 11'11.25'' – good for 13th in the books. Eldridge Harris squeaked into the No. 18 spot all-time for the men with his third-place finish height of 15'9.25''.

Freshman Janyah Jasper continued her strong first-year campaign by earning the ninth-best 100-meter time in school history at 11.78. She finished second in the race behind professional runner and CSU's record holder in the event – Marybeth Sant-Price.

Rounding out the ladies now inside the outdoor Ram record book was Bailee Carr in the 800 and Jordan Lanning in the 100m hurdles.

The sprints and hurdles are where the men showed off the most. Liam Mather tied the sixth-best CSU mark in the 110m hurdles. Tom Willems PR'd the 200 and the 400, landing in 10th all-time in the 400, while it would of been the same for the 200, but wind was too high. DeVon Washington was on Willems' tail in the 400, finishing runner-up and with the 13th-best time in CSU history. Similarly, Kelley Stephens placed fourth right behind Willems in the 200 and also would of ended up on the school list if it wasn't for the wind factor.
