Colorado State Falls to Pioneers in Overtime
DENVER – A quick golden goal from Denver sealed the 1-0 overtime win over Colorado State Sunday afternoon on CIBER Field at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium.

Throughout the game, both teams had their share of momentum offensively. For the Rams that came in the first half and early. Nine minutes in, Liv Layton had a cross that Kristen Noonan nearly footed, but landed high. Six minutes later, Gracie Armstrong had a run at the goal, but the keeper jumped out to stop it after a long touch. Later in the 34th minute, Izzy Wildermuth and Armstrong had two shots in the box back-to-back that were saved.Â

While the Rams continued to force the issue, the Pioneers were warming up too and Amanda Green answered the call with three saves in the first half en route to her nine total. The single-game record for the Rams is 12. For the transfer goalkeeper, the saves accounted for a career high.

In the all-time series, CSU drops to 3-2-1 and its first loss at DU. For the season, DU improved to 2-0, while CSU gets its first decision at 0-1. Possession time favored the Pioneers at 55%. The Rams did hold the corner kick advantage, earning five to DU's three. At half, both teams tallied five shots, but a more offensive second half by DU had the final number at 16 to CSU's 8.

Early in the overtime period, the ball went to Denver's offensive side of the field. The goal came after CSU blocked a shot and DU's Natalie Beckman got the rebound who then dished it to Jordan Crockett who took two touches and then fired the ball into the back right part of the goal.
