CSU hosts the Cougars for the first time in Saturday’s regular-season finale

FORT COLLINS -- Colorado State soccer closes its first Pac-12 regular season Saturday, welcoming Washington State to Fort Collins on Halloween.

Saturday's match at CSU Soccer Field kicks off at noon.

It's also Kick or Treat, the Rams' final home match of 2026. Fans are encouraged to come in costume (no masks or weapons) and trick-or-treat throughout the afternoon, with candy handed out at the match.

Series History: Washington State

Saturday marks the first meeting between the programs.

Scouting the Cougars

Washington State (5-5-5, 2-2-2) arrives in a three-way tie for fifth with eight points. The Cougars drew Texas State 1-1 on Sunday in their home finale. Freshman Camille Brophy scored her first collegiate goal in the 40th minute, but the Bobcats found an equalizer in the 89th. Washington State outshot Texas State with a season-high 30 shots and still came away with a draw.

Freshman forward Delaney Hawkins leads the attack with five goals, an assist, a team-high 11 points and two game-winners. She scored twice in the first seven minutes against Oregon State on Oct. 1 and was named Pac-12 Newcomer of the Week. Senior Lexi Lee adds four goals. Senior center back Riley Carolan has scored twice, both from corner kicks, so watch the set pieces.

In goal, senior Ashlyn Dvorak has made five or more saves in four straight matches and owns 26 career shutouts. Chris Citowicki is in his first season as head coach after eight years at Montana, where he won nine Big Sky championships. His first Cougar roster has 23 newcomers.

Late Trouble in Pullman

Washington State has spent the past week learning that 90 minutes is a long time. San Diego State tied the Cougars from the penalty spot in the 85th minute on Oct. 22. Three days later, Texas State headed in an 89th-minute equalizer.

That's two leads and four points gone in the final six minutes of play.

The Rams know a thing or two about closing out matches at home. Their last two at CSU Soccer Field ended in clean sheets.

Quick Kicks

Mia Casey enters Saturday with 147 career shots, tied with Hannah Gerdin (2015-18) for the most in program history. Her next shot sets the record. Casey already owns the career mark for shots on goal: her 68 are three more than Gracie Armstrong's 65.

Addison Huber has been climbing the program record book too. Her seven saves last week, four against Boise State and three at Oregon State, give her 77 this season. That ties Shayna Ross (2023) for fourth on CSU's single-season list and moves her past Hunter Peifer's 75 from 2017. One more save Saturday puts her fourth on her own. Her 77 career saves already rank fifth in program history, three ahead of Paige Brandt.

The Rams (3-11-3, 2-4-1) fell 1-0 at Oregon State on Sunday. Kaja Dionne led CSU with four shots, two of them on target.

Three days earlier, CSU held Boise State to a 0-0 draw at home. The Broncos came into that match with the most goals in Pac-12 play.

Defense has carried the Rams at home. Both of their home wins this season, over Denver and Gonzaga, came by 1-0 shutouts, and the Boise State draw made it two straight clean sheets in Fort Collins.

Saturday closes the books on a season of firsts. CSU played its first Pac-12 match at Fresno State on Oct. 1. A week later, the Rams beat Gonzaga 1-0 for their first Pac-12 home win. It was also the program's first win over the Bulldogs, after losses in 2018 and 2019.

A win would also keep the Rams' slim postseason hopes alive.
