"Our team battled hard today," head coach Laura Cilek said. "I am proud of how they stuck to their game plan while they battled the wind, and their fight showed in our score. We moved up the leaderboard on a tough scoring day with the wind, which shows their mental toughness."
Â
CSU again started on the back nine and turned in 8-over. However, the last nine holes of the day yielded eight birdies, as the Rams finished the day at 8-over 296 and are tied with Pepperdine at 22-over 598. Host Wisconsin also shot an 8-over 296 and remained the leader at 3-over 579, two shots ahead of Old Dominion at 5-over 581 after the only under-par round on the day at 3-under. Washington State is third at 9-over 585, followed by Notre Dame at 12-over 588 in fourth and SMU rounding out the top-five teams at 15-over 591.
Â
Freshman Lacey Uchida had CSU's first under-par round of the year with a 2-under 70 to move into a tie for 10th at 2-over 146. Â
"Lacey's 2-under par round today was very impressive," Cilek continued. "She showed up when her team needed it and it is so fun to watch her compete!
Â
"Andrea has had the stomach flu the last couple days and her ability to go out and finish her rounds shows how gritty she is," Cilek concluded. "We are so proud of her and hope she starts feeling better soon."
Â
CSU will tee off the third and final round in a shotgun start at 8 a.m. MT, starting on holes 8-11 and playing with Pepperdine and Iowa.
