Rams Begin Mountain West Play Hosting Broncos, Aggies

Colorado State will host Boise State and Utah State in the Mountain West opening week at Moby Arena.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State will head to Mountain West Conference action this week, facing a pair of league opponents. The Rams will host Boise State and Utah State at Moby Arena. CSU defeated them both at home last season, during the shortened COVID-19 year played in the spring.
 
The two matches will both be streamed on the Mountain West Network, including Saturday's match on Local3 in Denver. Thursday's match will serve at 7 p.m., MT, with Saturday's at 1 p.m., MT. Both played in Moby Arena.
 
Series History
» Colorado State leads the Boise State series 19-1 overall, including 11-0 in Moby Arena and 8-1 in Boise.
» The Rams only loss in the series was a five-set match in 2016 in Idaho.
» CSU also holds the series against Utah State, 32-14 overall and 16-6 in Moby Arena.
» The Rams carry a program-long 31 match winning streak against the Aggies, with their last loss in the series happening back in 1982.
» Colorado State has had just one five-set match during that time and 22 matches where it swept USU.

» Prior to coming to Colorado State, Hilbert was the head coach at Idaho from 1989-96 and accumulated a 174-72 record, which remains the best winning percentage by a coach in Idaho history. While in Moscow, he helped the Vandals win the regular season or tournament every year from 1992-95.
» Shawn Garus: 13th year at Boise State (217-149); 17th year overall (281-213).

» Boise State will enter conference play with the Mountain West's best record at 11-1 and a nine-match winning streak.
» The Broncos played four matches away from Boise in their non-conference slate, including just two true road matches -- at Sac State and UC Irvine.
» BSU's most notable non-conference win was a 3-1 upset over then-No. 10 Utah at home last week.
» Boise State has collected three conference weekly awards, all offensive the last three-consecutive weeks.
» The Broncos will face Colorado State on Thursday, before playing at Wyoming on Saturday.
 
Scouting Utah State
» Utah State enter league play with an 8-4 mark after picking up a pair of wins last week.
» The Aggies came away with a 2-1 mark in each of their non-conference weekends, including pushing SEC team Arkansas to five-sets while at the Bobcat Classic.
» Utah State is No. 3 in the Mountain West in hitting percentage at .248 and blocks with a 2.40 average.
» The Aggies will face Wyoming on Thursday night before playing in Moby Arena on Saturday afternoon.

» Alexa Roumeliotis has been stellar for Colorado State in the back row, averaging 4.76 per set - the second best in the Mountain West.
» The libero has recorded double-figure digs in all nine matches so far this season and has a 21 match-streak with double-figure digs dating back to Feb. 13, 2021.
» That streak isn't even her longest of her career at Colorado State, in 2019 she had an 11-match streak with double-figure digs.
» For her career at CSU, the senior has 50 matches with 10-or-more digs.
» In her collegiate career, she has totaled 56 - recording six while at Creighton.
