Rams Earn First Win of Season at NC State

Head Coach Tom Hilbert earned 600th win at Colorado State.
RALEIGH, N.C. – Head Coach Tom Hilbert earned his 600th win at Colorado State as the volleyball team picked up its first win of the season, with a 3-1 victory at NC State on Saturday night. The Rams took the first, second and fourth sets to claim the victory with scores, 30-28, 18-25, 25-23, 25-23.

The whole match was back and forth, especially in the first set, as there were 19 tie scores and six lead changes. NC State lead at 25-24 late after a 3-0 run, but the Rams fought back to take the first set, 30-28. In the second, the Wolfpack started the frame with a 7-2 lead and kept it, taking the set 25-18.

In the third, NC State led at 15-11 before CSU came back within one at 15-14. Both teams traded points down the stretch and were tied at 23-23 before the Rams took the final two points and led the match, 2-1. In the fourth, the Wolfpack again led early at 5-1 and at 13-9. But the Rams never went away, charging back with a five-point run to take a 20-19 lead. It was brawl at the end, as NC State scored three-consecutive to tie the set before CSU took the final two points to secure the match win.

Kennedy Stanford led the Rams again with 16 kills, followed by Annie Sullivan with 15. Alexa Roumeliotis posted 26 digs and Ciera Pritchard added 14, while also dishing out 43 assists for her second double-double of the season. A total of four players reach double-figure digs, with Brooke Hudson and Kennedy Stanford reaching double digits. It was Stanford's first double-double of her career. Colorado State totaled eight blocks with both middles, Sasha Colombo and Karina Leber each putting up three blocks.

Colorado State will be back at Moby Arena for three matches this weekend, first against SIUE on Friday afternoon at 12 p.m., MT.
