Day One at Air Force Invitational Complete

13 Rams Advance to Saturday’s Finals Plus a Win in a Throwing Event Highlight Friday
USAFA, Colo. – Thirteen Rams advanced to their event finals, and one captured an event win Friday at the Air Force Invitational in the Cadet Field House.

Day one of the Air Force Invitational featured field events that competed out to completion and running events that consisted of preliminary and semifinal rounds.

Colorado State's lone win in the field events came from Tarynn Sieg (Bown) who won the weight throw with a toss of 60'5.75'', making her 4-for-4 this season when competing.

On the track, six men clocked qualifying times to move on to Saturday's finals, while seven advanced on the women's side. For the men, the ones competing Saturday will be Liam Mather (60mH), Adam Stark (400m), DeVon Washington (400m), Kelley Stephens (200m & 60m), Kyle Dempsey (60m). Jessica Ozoude (200m) and Lauren Gale (400m) grabbed the top spots in their events, while Janyah Jasper (200m) and Yolonda Johnson (400m) will join in the same events. Jasper will also run in the 60m with Williams. The 60m hurdles will have Lexie Keller and Jordan Lanning.

Four all-time CSU marks were notched. John Fulton placed third in the 60m prelims with a time of 6.88 for a share of 17th all-time. In the women's long jump, Makayla Williams measured a 19'0.50'' – good for 12th in CSU History. Johnson in the 400m, clocked a 56.89 for 14th all-time in the women's record book. Keller jumped to the seventh spot in the long jump list all-time.

Saturday's action will get underway at 12 p.m. MT with field events and track events following at 1 p.m. MT.

"We had a few good PRs and qualifiers, but we still need to amp up our results. We do have many that did compete today for the first time in about a month, so we are still getting up to speed. Tomorrow will be fun to see how the qualifiers approach their first finals of a bigger meet."
