What You Need to Know
  • The Rams dropped both games last weekend against San Jose State and Nevada, only the second time they have lost back-to-back games this season. While these losses took the opportunity of a regular season Mountain West Championship out of Colorado State's hands directly, the Rams are still within reach of the feat.
  • Within the final two weeks of the regular season, the Rams sit two games out from second place in the conference, held by San Jose State and three games out from the top spot, held by UNLV. While the Rams fell at San Jose State last Thursday, the Spartans will face two tough opponents on the road this weekend in Utah State and Boise State who occupy spots four and five of the conference. A win for either the Aggies or the Broncos will help the Rams in the standings so long as Colorado State can take care of business over the Lobos and Falcons this week.
  • UNLV's toughest slate of games remaining in the regular season will come in the final week of the season as they host Wyoming on Thursday and then face the Rams in a revenge game Saturday afternoon. The Rams swept the Rebels last time out, which is currently UNLV's only conference loss. This is one case that Colorado State can help their own cause in the regular season.
  • Of course, no matter how the final two weeks place out, the Rams only need one more regular season win to ensure their spot in the Mountain West Tournament which they will host in Moby Arena from November 23-25.

Series History
  • Last time out against the Lobos, the Rams won the match by a score of 3-1. Colorado State's middles were the shining part of the offense in this match up with both Naeemah Weathers and Karina Leber totaling 13 kills. The Rams struggled against New Mexico's block early on in this matchup, especially on the outside, but with both Kennedy Stanford and Malaya Jones finding their rhythm for the Rams as of late, Colorado State will look to get back on track Thursday night.
  • The Rams swept the Falcons earlier this season down in Colorado Springs with a well-balanced attack from the front row. Stanford led the team with 12 kills while Annie Sullivan followed close behind with eight. Colorado State's defensive was another highlight of this dominant win totaling 32 digs from the back row with only two serve reception errors.

Match Notes Nuggets

  • Saturday's match will serve as senior day for lone Ram senior Jacqi Van Liefde. Jacqi has played five seasons at Colorado State and showed great determination and toughness coming back from an injury that took place earlier this season. While this won't be her last time playing in Moby Arena, fans are encouraged to come out and honor Jacqi for everything she has done for Ram Volleyball.
  • Saturday will also act as the Rams' annual Green Out game. A tradition at Colorado State for the last home game of the season, all fans are encouraged to wear their best green gear to support the Rams.
  • Lastly, earlier this week, the historic and 26-year Head Coach of the Rams, Tom Hilbert announced his retirement at the end of this season. While Hilbert has encouraged fans to keep the focus on Van Liefde Saturday afternoon, Saturday's match will be Hilbert's regular season curtain call. A day of celebration all around, find tickets for this week's games here.
  • Match times are set for 7 p.m. Thursday and noon Saturday.
