The sophomore shot a 1-under in the morning and is 2-under overall as the Rams shot a 4-under 284 in the completed round.
BOCA RATON, Fla. – Colorado State is currently ninth late in the second round of the 2022 FAU Paradise Invitational Feb. 7. The two-day, 54-hole tournament, hosted by Florida Atlantic University, is being played at Osprey Point Golf Club's Raven and Falcon nines (Par 72 – 6,204 yards) in Boca Raton, Fla.
Â
After an hour-and-half delay due to fog, the Rams got off to a strong start on the day, posting a 4-under 284 in the morning 18. Through 16 holes of the second round that was eventually suspended due to darkness, CSU was 6-over and sitting in ninth at 2-over. Mississippi State is in the lead at 20-under, two shots better than Florida and Vanderbilt. Missouri is fourth at 9-under, with UTSA in fifth at 8-under.
Â
Sophomore Sofia Torres is the top CSU player at 2-under with two holes to go in her second round, currently in a tie for 17th. Torres posted a 1-under 71 in the morning and is at 1-under at the break. Junior Andrea Bergsdottir is next in a tie for 27th as she shot a 2-under 70 in the first round and is 2-over with two to play. Hybuir Gabby Minier had a team-best 3-under 69 in the first round but had a couple of issues and is tied for 38th at 2-over with one to go. Freshman Pemika Arphamongkol is tied for 54th at 4-over, while freshman Lacey Uchida is tied for 62nd at 5-over. Julia Lopez Ramirez of Mississippi State is the individual leader at 13-under, three shots clear of Florida's Annabell Fuller.
"I was proud of the way we came out of the gates today," head coach Laura Cilek said. "We looked confident, ready to go, and in control of our games. Gabby, Andrea, and Sofia had under-par rounds to start the 2022 season which shows the hard work they have been putting in. Fancy and Lacey were very steady today but just didn't have the birdies fall that they needed to get back into contention. I am looking forward to seeing us move up the leaderboard tomorrow."
Â
The Rams will complete their second round tomorrow morning, beginning at 7:30 a.m. ET and immediately head into the third and final round of the event.
