Colorado State Track & Field Program Travels Down I-25 to Pueblo Friday and Saturday
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – For the second year in a row, the Colorado State track and field program will get its outdoor season underway at the Spank Blasing Invite, hosted on the campus of CSU Pueblo.Â
Â
Friday will be a light open to the meet with just hammer and javelin competing and not starting until 2 p.m. MT. The bulk of the meet will take place Saturday, starting at 8 a.m. and ending in the late afternoon. The meet is open to fans, and you can also follow along via live stats and a video steam.
Â
Although the CSU men finished second in last month's Mountain West Indoor Championships, the Rams are the two-time defending MW outdoor champions. The CSU women on the other hand look to carry their success from the recent MW Indoor Championship to the outdoor season where they were last crowned in the 2019 season.
Â
With it being a month since the indoor conference meet, head coach Brian Bedard is planning to send a large contingent of student-athletes down to the Neta and Eddie DeRose Thunderbowl – one of the finest NCAA DII complexes. For student-athletes that did not compete at conference, it has been closer to a month and a half since they've seen some competition. Two Rams that won't be competing are Lauren Gale and Tom Willems who will enjoy a weekend off after competing at the World Athletic Championships last weekend in Belgrade, Serbia.
