All five Rams are separated by just two shots as the team put together its most consistent round of the year.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Colorado State battled not only a challenging course but windy conditions for a solid day to sit in a tie for sixth after the first round of the 2022 Chattanooga Classic Sunday. The three-day, 54-hole event, hosted by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, is being played at Council Fire Golf Club (Par 72 – 6,234 yards) in Chattanooga, Tenn.

In a field has 16 of the 20 teams ranked in Golfstat's top 125, the Rams put together a complete and consistent team round to post a 14-over 302 and sit in a tie for sixth with Old Dominion, Southern Miss, and host Chattanooga. North Florida is the first round leader at 6-over 294, ahead by two shots of Yale in second at 8-over 296. UTSA and East Carolina are tied for third at 9-over 297, with Central Arkansas rounding out the top five teams at 10-over 298. Just nine shots separate the top 10 teams in the field after 18 holes.

On a day where just five players in the field are under par, all five Rams are separated by just two shots,  led by freshman Lacey Uchida and freshman Pemika Arphamongkol at 3-over 75 in a tie for 27th. Juniors Andrea Bergsdottir and Gabby Minier are one shot back at 4-over 76 in a tie for 35th, while sophomore Sofia Torres is just one shot back at 5-over 77 in a tie for 47th. UTSA's Ana Gonzales, Julie Boysen Hillestad of East Carolina and Chattanooga's Emse Hamilton are tied for the individual lead at 2-under 70.

"It was a nice start for us today," head coach Laura Cilek said. "We have been working on committing to shots and making smart decisions in tough conditions, and they did a great job of that today. We managed the course well, and I was very proud of the way they composed themselves all day. I am looking forward to watching them climb the leaderboard tomorrow!"

The Rams will begin their second round off No. 1 starting at 10:15 am MT, playing with Central Arkansas and UTSA.
