Colorado State Makes Its First Plane Trip of Outdoor Season
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Three different groups of Rams flew out of Denver International Airport Thursday at different times, but all were headed to California to compete in the two-day West Coast Relays, hosted by Fresno State.
Â
The first group, the hammer throwers, had a very early walk thru of the airport since they will compete later this afternoon at 4 p.m. MT in the meet's first event at Warmerdam Field. Friday moves over to Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis and consists of everything, starting at 11 a.m. MT with the women's javelin and concludes with the men's 5,000m invitational at 9:35 p.m. MT. A small portion of distance Rams will also be competing in the Stanford Invitational late Friday night in Palo Alto, Calif.
Â
This weekend marks the 79th edition of the West Coast Relays. Last year marked the return of the meet after a 16-year hiatus. This year's event will feature athletes from 16 programs from four states across the west. Notable teams competing alongside CSU include CSU Bakersfield, Cal Poly, Washington, UCLA, San Jose State, Seattle Pacific, Utah, Long Beach State, Utah, Fresno Pacific, Loyola Marymount, California Baptist, and the host Bulldogs.
Â
Live results of the West Coast Relays can be found on https://csura.ms/3tWmbMX. FloTrack will be offering a paid live stream. Admission for Friday is $7 for adults and $5 for youth and seniors (65+). Purchasing tickets online ahead of the meet is encouraged. Â
Â
In last week's outdoor opener for CSU, the Rams tallied 13 top-20 school marks including five within the top 5. On the NCAA Outdoor Performance List, the Rams have nine total marks in the top 50 between the women and men.
