Wind and Rams Blow by Opponents in Final Day of Jack Christiansen Invitational

Colorado State Collects 15 First-Place Finishes to Conclude Saturday’s Home Meet
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Despite 30 mile-per-hour winds and gusts upwards to 55 mph, the Jack Christiansen Invitational was a breeze operation-wise and in the results Saturday to conclude the Jack Christiansen Track.
Â
Fifteen Ram wins were captured with eight coming from the women's side and seven from the men. Twenty-eight personal records were obtained including four marks on CSU's record book.
Â
Promptly after the ceremony to name the Fritz Fulton Memorial 110-meter men's hurdle race with the Fulton family present, Andrew Doctor flew in the event to win and notch a time of 13.96 for third all-time at CSU. He shaved .19 off his previous PR, which was ninth on the list.
Â
In his men's 400 win, Tom Willems clocked a 46.46, cutting .06 off his PR, but staying in fourth in CSU history. Adam Stark finished runner-up at 47.77, which slide him into 20th on the list, knocking off CSU legendary student-athlete and coach Del Hessel's mark from 1960 off the list.
Â
The last historic mark for the current Rams came from Jack Cauble in the 100, crossing at 10.46 for fifth in CSU history.
Â
Former Ram Marybeth Sant-Price added a blustery 11.29 in the women's 100m to take the facility record away from TCU's Jessica Young who set it at 11.40 in 2011. Behind Sant-Price were two Rams.
Â
One gust of wind was a sigh of relief from the fans, coaches and other student-athletes when Lexie Keller shook off a spill in the 100m hurdle race, came up unharmed and finished the race.
Â
The gale of the wind foiled Lauren Gale's 200m time of 23.07, which would have been a school record. She won the race nonetheless, which was her second of the day after her typical breezy 400 victory. Â
Â
For safety reasons, the pole vault was moved into the Glenn Morris Field House where Celyn Stermer soared to a victory, matching her personal-best 13'3.5'' – the No. 2 mark in school history.
Â
The CSU throws section swept the discus and shot put for both genders. Gabi McDonald won her fourth shot put of the season and second discus, equaling her second sweep of the two in a meet as well. For the men, Mariano Kis got the win in the shot put, while Adam Dawson did the same for the discus. In both, Jackson Morris was runner-up and for the shot put it marked his fourth PR improvement on the season.
Â
In the middle of the day to catch everyone's breath, twenty-six CSU seniors were recognized by the finish line. A few of the senior scripts made the public announcer feel very winded afterwards.
