Colorado State Competes at Colorado Invitational and Arizona’s Jim Click Shootout

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – A few Colorado State multi student-athletes began competition Thursday at University of Arizona's Jim Click Shootout, but majority of the Rams this weekend will be competing at the Colorado Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

The five student-athletes in Tucson, Ariz., completed half of their multis and will finish Friday. In the women's heptathlon, Lexie Keller leads a field of 11, while Jordan Lanning is in sixth after four events. Not messing around in her first heptathlon, Keller notched four personal recording, starting with a 13.97 in the 100-meter hurdles to move four spots up in the CSU all-time list to 11th. She finished second in the shot put and 200-meter race, while Lanning won the high jump. The two Rams are the only non-Power Five student-athletes among the representatives from Kansas State, Arizona, Oklahoma State and Wisconsin.

In the men's decathlon, the Ram trio of Mauricio Galindo Vega, Drew Thompson and Elijah Scott are through five events and are sixth, ninth, and 16th, respectively. Friday's action restarts at 10:30 a.m. MT for the men and noon for the women. Live results of the Jim Click Shootout can be found on http://csura.ms/3KnHjBe & first day results are at the bottom of this release.

Back in Colorado, head coach Brian Bedard will be taking 34 student-athletes to Boulder for the CU Invitational. Majority of the distance group along with the entire jump section will be absent as they rest for next week's home meet, the Doug Max Invitational. The throws will be in full force along with a large contingent of sprinters. Two Rams – Tom Willems and Lauren Gale – will be making their outdoor season debut after having a lengthier indoor season than the rest. Willems (Australia) and Gale (Canada) competed for their home countries at the World Indoor Championships with the latter doing so a week after the NCAA Indoor Championships where she earned NCAA First Team All-America honors.

Friday is the meet's soft open with just the javelin, hammer throw and triple jumps in session starting at 2 p.m. The bulk of the meet will commence Saturday at 10:45 a.m. with the National Anthem followed by events at the hour. All local teams will be competing alongside CSU include Colorado, Colorado Mesa, Northern Colorado, Metro State, Western Colorado, Colo. Christian, Air Force, Wyoming, Colorado College, School of Mines. Live results of the Colorado Invitational can be found on http://cubuffs.com/tracklive.

In the first two weeks of the outdoor season, the Rams have racked up 36 top-20 school marks including 11 within the top 5. Last weekend at the Stanford Invitational, Lauren Offerman and Annabel Stafford captured the school records in the women's 5,000 and 10,000, respectively.

On the NCAA Outdoor Performance List, the Rams have 39th total marks in the top 50 between the women and men.

NCAA West Outdoor Performance List Top-50 (Colorado State)
The top 48 competitors from the NCAA West will vie to place in the top 12 and earn a berth to the NCAA Championships on June 8-11 in Eugene, Ore. The NCAA East mirrors this as well, making the field at nationals 24 for each event.
