Colorado State will compete at the Roy Griak Invitational Friday morning

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – After being idle for the last two weeks, Colorado State will return to competition as they head to Minnesota to run at the Roy Griak Invitational on Friday, Sept. 23 at the University of Minnesota Les Bolstad Golf Course. The men will start the day running at 9:30 a.m., MT with the women following at 10:15 a.m., MT. It will be almost three full weeks since the Rams last competed at the Wyoming Invite to start the season.

"The 2022 Roy Griak Invitational will be an excellent test for us," said head coach Andrew Epperson. "Both teams have put in a solid training block since the first competition, and I am proud of the effort and energy they have brought to every practice. The course is challenging, featuring rolling hills and plenty of areas where your rhythm can be disrupted."

The women remain in the USTFCCCA National Coaches' Poll in week two, at No. 14 for the second-consecutive week. The Rams debuted in the Preseason Poll at No. 13 before dropping.

"The women's field is stacked, featuring seven other nationally ranked or teams receiving votes," added Epperson. "They are healthy, fit, confident, and excited for the opportunity that lies ahead. With a stronger field, I expect them to compete well and continue to ride their momentum from their previous seasons."

Both squads are showing in the Top-10 in the regional rankings with the men remaining at No. 9 and the women climbing one spot to No. 3.

"The men have an opportunity to race against a top 10 ranked team in Wisconsin as well as several teams ranked or receiving votes in the National Poll," said Epperson. "Every meet the pressure and level of competition ramps up, ultimately leading toward the championship portion. This will be an important step towards November."

Colorado State last ran at the Roy Griak in 2017, picking up a men's team title paced by Jerrell Mock who went on to be named Second-Team All-America that season. On the women's side, the Rams finished sixth out of 18 teams

Following the Roy Griak, the Rams will head to the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational Oct. 14 in Madison, Wis.
