Colorado State returns to Moby Arena hosting Utah State for Education Day on Thursday starting at 11 a.m.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State returns to Moby Arena this week, hosting Utah State on Thursday for Education Day at 11 a.m. The Rams will welcome thousands of fifth and sixth graders from the Poudre and Thompson School Districts for the matinee. CSU will finish the week hosting the Cowgirls on Saturday at 1 p.m., for the first edition of the Border War.

Tip Off
Colorado State returns to Moby Arena after a pair of road games last week - both losses combining for seven points at New Mexico and Air Force. The Rams will host Utah State on Thursday morning at 11:00 AM for Education Day before playing Wyoming on Saturday at 1:00 PM for the first edition of the Border War.
 
Recapping Last Week
CSU played a pair of road games last week, suffering two losses by a total of seven points at New Mexico and Air Force. The Rams were held well below their season average, averaging just 62 points in the two games, while also shooting just 40 percent from the floor and 27.5 from behind the arc.
 
Leaving No Doubt
So far this season, Colorado State holds a +11.6 scoring margin - No. 49 in the nation. The Rams have had nine games where they defeated their opponent by 20+ points. In CSU's 13 wins, it holds a 22.0 win margin and a 17.5 margin in its six Mountain West victories.
 
Getting Buckets
McKenna Hofschild isn't afraid to pull the trigger. That's why she is on a 38-game streak where she has scored double-figure points. Last time she didn't score double figures was on Jan. 19, 2022 at Utah State when she scored seven. Since then, she is averaging 20.6 points/game with three games with 30+ points and 15 games with 20-plus points.

Colorado State takes care of the ball, while also moving it around to create assists. The Rams enter their 12th week leading the country in assist/turnover ratio at 1.74. McKenna Hofschild is No. 2 in the country with a 3.87 mark, having 39 turnovers and 151 assists in 21 contests. Last season she finished the year at No. 5 in the nation with a 3.00 ratio.

In games that are decided by five points or less, the Rams are 0-6. CSU suffered a pair of losses to SEC programs Mississippi State and Auburn by a combined six points. The Rams' four conference losses have all come by less than five points, averaging a -3.75 margin.
 
Too Close
The Rams have suffered eight losses so far this season, posting just a -5.4 scoring margin which is the lowest in the country. Houston holds an 8-13 mark and a -5.46 scoring margin in its losses. Fordham is also close and holds a 14-8 record and a -6.2 margin.
 
Protect The Rock
Colorado State doesn't turn the ball over much at all, which is why it leads the nation in fewest turnovers per game with 8.6. The Rams have forked the ball over just 180 times, the lowest in the country. The next team in turnovers/game averages about 2.0 more at 10.5 (Villanova).
 
Controlling The Paint
In the Rams home win against Nevada, Cali Clark pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds and added three blocks. Since the start of Mountain West play, the forward is averaging 7.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks - both in the top in the conference and is one-of-three players in both categories (Shaiquel McGruder, UNM and Allyson Fertig, WY).
 
Home Sweet Home
When playing in Moby Arena, Colorado State is 10-2 overall, averaging 76.5 points per contest, while also keeping opponents to 61.2 points (+15.3 margin).
 
Chasing History
McKenna Hofschild is chasing Stalwart company. The senior has dished out 481 assists while at Colorado State. The guard is one-of-three in program history, to record 1,000 points and 400-plus assists, joining Ellen Nystrom and Becky Hammon. Hofschild is No. 4 in career assists behind Dee Dee Dominguez at 523.
 
Utah State Series History
The Rams and Aggies will meet for the second time this season after a 99-62 road victory in Logan earlier this season. CSU leads the series 25-13 and is 15-5 while playing in Moby Arena, including a four-game winning streak at home and a seven-game run in the series.
 
Last Time Against Utah State
The Rams faced the Aggies earlier this season in Logan, earning a 99-62 rout. Colorado State led wire-to-wire behind Destiny Thurman's 29 points, including 27 in the first half which outscored Utah State. CSU finished shooting 58.7% in the game - a season high, and 52% from behind the arc - also a season high.
 
Wyoming Series History
In one of the longest running series in program history, Colorado State and Wyoming will meet for the 107th Border War, which dates back to the start of the program in 1975. The Rams hold a 55-51 overall mark in the series, including a 29-21 record while at Moby Arena.
