Rams Compete in Loaded Field in Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. – Colorado State cross country competed in Madison, Wisconsin at the Nuttycombe Invitational Friday morning. In a field littered with ranked teams on both sides, the women's team placed 17th and the men finished last at 36th.
 
The women finished over five ranked teams, No. 25 Syracuse, No. 12 North Carolina, No. 13 Providence, and No. 15 Florida State. The Rams can thank senior Sarah Carter, junior Quinn McConnell, and senior Yasmin Austridge for their placement.
 
Carter was the only Ram to finish in the top 25. At 20th, she ran the women's 6K with a time of 20:17.9. 
 
McConnell made an impressive 35 jump from spot 115 to finishing 80th with a time of 20:55.8. Austridge wasn't far behind McConnell, recording a time of 20:55.9 but finishing in 89th.
 
The men's team competed against 17 ranked teams and finished 36th.
 
Junior Sam Griffith was the Rams' best runner in the 8K. He finished in 129th, crossing the line at 24:33.0.
 
Friday ended the regular season for the Rams as the next time they hit the course will be October 27 in Boise, Idaho at the Mountain West Championships.
