Rams Earn No. 2 Seed in Mountain West Tournament

Colorado State to face either New Mexico or UNLV Thursday
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State volleyball team will begin its post season run at the 2023 Mountain West Tournament Thursday, November 23 as the Rams earned the No. 2 seed in the tournament as well as a first round bye. Colorado State will play the winner of the quarter final matchup between UNLV and New Mexico which will take place Wednesday.

What You Need to Know
- The Rams enter the Mountain West Tournament as the No. 2 seed which automatically places them into the semi-final round with a first-round bye.
- The Mountain West Tournament is a single elimination tournament with the winner of the tournament receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament starting Thursday, November 30. The entire NCAA Tournament Bracket will be announced Sunday, November 26.
- The Mountain West Tournament is hosted by 2022 regular season champions, UNLV. Find additional information on the tournament here.
- The New Mexico Lobos enter the tournament as the No. 6 seed after finishing in a three-way tie with Fresno State and Boise State. The Broncos and the Bulldogs both held the tiebreaker over the Lobos, forcing them into the No. 6 seed. The Rams swept New Mexico in both regular season matchups this season.
- The UNLV Rebels enter the tournament as the No. 3 seed after finishing the season on a five-game winning streak. The Rebels will play on their home court, first facing the Lobos with the winner of that matchup going on to face the Rams. The Rams split their matchups with UNLV in the regular season with each team winning their corresponding home match.
- On a win in the semi-final round, Colorado State will advance to the championship game taking place Friday, November 24. If the Rams advance, they have the opportunity to see either No. 5 Boise State, No. 4 Fresno State or the No. 1 overall seed and regular season champions, the Utah State Aggies. The Aggies enter the tournament with only one loss on the conference season.
- The Rams went 2-0 in their final week of regular season play, sweeping both the New Mexico Lobos and Air Force Falcons last weekend in Moby Arena.
- Colorado State celebrated five seniors Saturday versus Air Force; Alyssa Groves, Ruby Kayser, Anna Porter, Barrett Power and Annie Sullivan.
- As a team, the Rams finished the regular season at the top of the conference in hitting percentage with .284. Senior middle blocker Naeemah Weathers finished at the top of the conference in individual hitting percentage with .435.
- Senior setter Emery Herman led the Mountain West last week with 78 total assists in six sets, averaging 13 assists per set. Herman finished the regular season leading the Mountain West in assists with 754 total, averaging 10.77 assists per set. Herman also led the Mountain West in service aces on the season with 31.
- Redshirt-junior Malaya Jones finished third in the conference in kills with 259 total and 3.70 kills per set. She had 22 kills total last week.
- Fifth-year senior Annie Sullivan led the Rams last week with 23 kills total including 16 kills over New Mexico in three sets.
- Defensively, fifth-year senior Anna Porter totaled 19 digs and two service aces across last week's two games.
