Colorado State takes the road for its final regular season conference games this season

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – All roads lead to the last road trip of the season where the Rams will face the UNLV Rebels in Las Vegas Thursday night and the San Diego State Aztecs Saturday afternoon.

What You Need to Know
  • Redshirt-sophomore Kate Yoshimoto was named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week for helping the Rams secure victories over Wyoming and San Jose State last week. Against the Cowgirls and the Spartans, Yoshimoto tallied a total of 32 total digs, averaging 3.56 per set. She added 56 receptions to help her establish a serve-receive percentage of .964.
  • Senior Kennedy Stanford will be playing in her 100th career match Thursday against the Rebels. Stanford has played in all 56 sets this season and has tallied a total of 159.5 points during conference play. She also has 136 kills, 16 assists, and 10 service aces on the season.
  • The Rams currently sit tied for second in the Mountain West standing as the Mountain West Championship Tournament rests less than three weeks away. The top six teams in the conference will advance to the Mountain West tournament, hosted by UNLV in Las Vegas from November 22-24.
 
Scouting The Rebels and the Aztecs
  • The Rebels are currently ranked sixth in the Mountain West with seven wins and seven losses in the conference season. As a team, UNLV ranks fourth in blocks, with a total of 129 team blocks, and service aces with 94 total.
  • UNLV's outside hitter Isabel Martin ranks second in kills with a total of 224. She averages 4.15 kills per set. Martin also ranks second in total points throughout the conference with 224 kills, 15 service aces, two solo blocks, and 32 block assists.
  • Ranking third in blocks, middle blocker Jordyn Freeman has 69 total on the season. She has five solo blocks and 64 block assists averaging 1.25 blocks per set.
  • The Aztecs are ranked ninth in the Mountain West after falling to Fresno State in four sets in their last outing. The team is third in both assists and digs on the season. San Diego State also ranks fourth in kills, two spots behind Colorado State.
  • San Diego State's opposite hitter Taylor Underwood ranks fourth in the conference for total kills with 196 and averages 3.44 kills per set.
  • Aztec's libero McKenna Douglas occupies the number two spot for digs. Douglas has 217 digs during conference play and averages 3.81 digs per set.

Match Notes
  • The Rams defeated the Wyoming Cowgirls at home in four sets and the San Jose State Spartans in five sets on the road last week.
  • Sophomore Kate Yoshimoto tallied 15 digs, 25 receptions, and six assists against the Cowgirls and 17 digs, 31 receptions, and five assists against the Spartans.
  • Redshirt junior Malaya Jones led the Rams to victory on Thursday night against the Cowgirls with 23 kills and an ace.
  • Senior Naeemah Weathers made an impact on the match with seven kills and five blocks.
  • Colorado State met a very win hungry San Jose State team Saturday afternoon. The match went to five sets with the Rams tallying 20 or more points in the first four sets.
  • The Rams out-hit the Spartans .232 to .147 with Jones, outside hitter Annie Sullivan, and Weathers making big strides. Jones had 16 kills, two service aces, and two blocks. Sullivan had 15 kills and one block on the night and Weathers had 13 kills and six blocks.
  • Other notable players include Karina Leber who had 20 kills, three aces, and four blocks over the week.
