Turnovers Down Rams after Hot Start for First Loss

LONG BEACH, Calif. – After a hot start to the game, Colorado State suffered its first loss of the season to Long Beach State, 77-76. The Rams had a look before the final horn but couldn't find the bottom of the net. CSU also had a season-high 16 turnovers, which the Beach turned into 20 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Rams started the game shooting 67 percent in the first quarter, scoring 33 points on a 12-of-18 shooting
- CSU missed just one shot in their first 10 attempts to lead 23-10 with 4:41 left in the first frame
- In the second quarter, Colorado State made just three baskets, adding six of its 13 points from the charity stripe
- Colorado State fought to tie the game after the third quarter, 63-63
- The Rams took the lead and built a five-point advantage with 6:17 left to play
- From there, the Rams added just one layup and five points
- CSU didn't make a field goal in the last 3:49 of the game

- McKenna Hofschild led all scorers with 28 points with majority of her points in the first quarter with 11 and added six assists
- Hannah Ronsiek added 14 points while battling foul trouble early
- Kendyll Kinzer controlled the boards with seven
- Colorado State finished shooting 43 percent on 26-of-61 shooting
- There was a total of 38 fouls called, 19 on both sides
- Long Beach State turned the ball over 18 times, which the Rams turned into 15 points
- The Rams turned the ball over 16 times themselves, which the Beach made into 20 points
- Colorado State's bench added 16 points to Long Beach State's 28
